My grandmother is African. Specifically from Ghana. She said she'd thought she'd never see a movie like Black Panther. She loves it and she was telling me that there are so many traditional African culture that is very accurate in the movie.... She is 91 and still kicking.

M’Baku was so extra. He could have waited on the cliff with the other tribes. But no, he had to make an entrance. He probably had one of his guys waiting by the edge of the entrance waiting for the perfect time to start chanting. Lol, he may have been one of the main villains in the comics but I love this character’s cinematic reincarnation.

I literally had to refrain from standing in my seat in the theatres the very second the Jabari (and specifically M'Baku) started their chant. As an Afrikan dancer, Ogun devotee and traditional Eldress my soul and heart were moved by that short yet powerful entrance. It was also one time I appreciated and connected the Q-Dogs! M'Baku is my favorite character from Black Panther!

I actually got to meet Winston Duke (M’Baku) in person and he said he had to wait 4 months before he even got confirmed for Black Panther. He had no idea who he was auditioning for until he got to act with Chadwick Boseman. LOL, as he was leaving he shouted out his classic line “MANFA!”. The dude is such a humble guy.
