As a hard-core Ranger fan, this will be the first time that i WON'T choose it. My money will also go to the Isuzu.

D-Max hands down. Isuzu has nailed it in every aspect on how a pickup truck should be. May not be as plush as the Ranger or too hardcore as the Hilux but in this segment, pure reliability and durability is king alongside with the right balance of everything. Can't wait to see a head to head toss up with the Triton soon.

I will buy the Hilux, just because it has the volumn knobs.

Just kidding. The Isuzu is my favourite here.

Australians definitely love utes!!! And I'm here for it all!!! I've watched no less than a dozen ute videos... just today!!! From the new D-Max, to the refreshed Hilux and the Ranger and then comparisons between them all, I want Isuzu to come back Stateside with the D-Max and really give the midsize truck strongholds a run for their money. That rear diff lock is a game changer. Thanks for the comparison guys!!!

I must say, Isuzu really upped their game. I would go for the Dmax. The best choice in my opinion

Be honest. We're all here because of the all new Isuzu Dmax.

I’m leaning towards a D-Max SX. Gets all the good mechanicals, engine, safety, towing etc - and i don’t need leather, 9” screen, dual climate, 17” rims etc. For the $10, 000 (est) saving I’ll get tyres, canopy, 2” lift, tune, snorkel, bull bar, diff breathers, canvas seat covers etc (i know this all costs more than $10k). I’ll be getting a tow bar as well.
Will use for work & 4x4 outings.
Just seems like a sensible deployment of my $$.
The 3lt engine is very tuneable & pretty bullet proof.

the first time I heard the three testers chose isuzu dmax is not like before all ford ranger only. this means the quality of dmax is indeed the best. the world is always changing, be prepared for change do not be obsessed with one type only.

I've bought the new dmax and can't wait till it arrives, 5 months tho still worth. Took it for a test drive and the steering is amazing, don't know what old mate is talking about!

Visited both Toyota and Isuzu today, besides actually preferring the Isuzu inside & out, there was bugger all in it between them on the road. The SR5+ with an added Tub Liner, Tonneau hard cover & roof rails hit over 70K made my choice so much easier, I just signed up for a fully loaded Dmax X-Terrain with Tow Bar for 59K Drive no contest .

Just bought a d-max today and I’m happy to wait the 3-5 months on this thing! They are such a nice car to drive and 6k cheaper than both of these is a flat out bargain when you look at the three of them.

Hilux for sure, as he said best for long route and that’s what ute’s are for.
Strong, durable, reliable and of course TOYOTA

Bril. review! Amazing Ute the D-Max is - dignified, spacious, tall, powerful, agile workhorse one can trust as a companion for traveling to any and every place there is. A clear winner.

An understated Ute
did the crown accept
almost apologetically
for scoring 3
conceding none
in a contest
of equally stoic
workhorses

Had a 2017 Hilux, picking up this one in a few weeks, did not even occur to me to look at another ute. I punished it for 3 years and it lapped it up, then I was floored by the amount I sold it for with 145k on it... can't beat it

In Thailand the new Dmax is outselling all other utes combined.

Open your eyes lads, audio volume is on the steering wheel. D-Max all the way!!!

Hey guys, you keep going on about a volume knob, if you look carefully you will notice that there is volume control on the steering wheels right next to your thumb of all these vehicles. Surely that is even easier than having to take my hand off the steering wheel to reach for a knob...

All three of these look great. I'm not really bothered by some of the small things that the Hilux is lacking, and I also don't care for all the fancy safety features on the Ranger and Isuzu. If I had to go out and buy one of these three right now, it would be the Hilux. Ford has a really spotty track record when it comes to reliability, and the interior just feels too cheap for what it costs. The Isuzu made a massive leap, I honestly thought it was just going to be another massive disappointment like the last one. The interior is pretty nice, the infotainment needs at least one knob for volume control, I'm not a fan of those buttons. The reason I wouldn't buy one is the exterior. It's just too ugly for my taste. The Hilux has the best looking interior and exterior in my opinion. The extra 20kw and 50nm is a welcome boost. I won't be buying any of these though. I'm gonna go with the Hilux Legend 50 we have here in South Africa.
