For people who don't understand:

There's a passage here called the northern sea route which ships can use alternatively instead of the Panama canal when passing thru America. This route can save days and money for the companies passing by. And critically. It passes through the beiring straight. Through ALASKA. So when us realized this. They strongly said that Canada's waters were international to prevent Canada from stopping ships to pass through.
