Ontario could cut off energy to US if Trump imposes tariffs, Ford says

Ontario Premier Doug Ford said he would support cutting off energy exports south of the border to retaliate against U.S. president-elect Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on Canadian imports.

Ford made the comments after a meeting between Canadian premiers, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other federal ministers on Wednesday.

“We need to be ready fight,” he told reporters, adding that federal and provincial leaders need to prepare a list of retaliatory tariffs.

Ford said he doesn’t want to cut off energy exports but warned Trump’s promised tariffs are “coming” and that Ontario and Canada need to respond.

😊 Canada can apply for membership in Brics. Their currency is backed by precious metals, not oil and they also have a larger trading base than we would lose into the United States. Perhaps Mexico would do the same thing.
