Roads are mostly good for the tourist places. Governmentt has to make sure it provides clean toilets good restaurants and clean budget stay. This will improve tourism a lot.

Being an IAS he is so disconnected with the reasons behind why a common youth from T2/T3 city plan to go abroad. There are not many opportunities here in these cities. Not everyone can make pakoda here and survive with a family. In countries like Canada/Aus with hard-work they can.

Vivek ji, you cannot contact a govt officer. I tried to contact the DM of a district, I emailed, phoned 3 numbers from the website, only one rang the other 2 says wrong number. There was 2 email address. My message from one email came back undelivered, other email went to the DM but I never received a reply. Even the DM mobile number is on website he never answers the phone. Indian govt officers are under trained, lazy, corrupt.

You mentioned tourism and Taj. My dream was to visit the Taj so made the trip in 2011. As a NRI we paid God knows how much more, waited for 2hrs in queue. The security persons were letting in people through the back door via the paid dalals. We were approached but denied their service. In the end we got in, we took some photos leading up to the Taj which took half hour. We just reached the Taj to go in only to be told by the security guards to leave the Taj, why? "VIP visit". We were horrified. They told us to come back the next day and use the same ticket. But we were not staying the night in Agra. We asked who this VIP was. Some of them said they don't know. As we were going out of Taj other tourists were just as horrified and told us that the VIP was a Supreme Court judge and his family. If tourists are treated like this forget about India being a tourist country.

The other very annoying thing is the civil etiquette of the citizens, the glare, interference, asking personal questions and over all trust??

India has a long to go. The mind set and politics is the main problem. India need to mature which will take another 2/3 generations. You need a huge social revolution.
