Indian students pursuing their American Dream might face tough times ahead as a key program, the Optional Practical Training (OPT), is now under scrutiny. The OPT program plays a major role in helping international students, especially Indians, gain work experience in the U.S. and improve their chances of getting H-1B visas.

There should be H1B reform. Most desi companies have used this as a body shop and take 10-20 % commission of earned wages, file multiple h1b petitions for the same applicant through their affiliate companies and have abused the h1b system and in this process have denied proper wages to these aspirants and defrauded American public. It should be reformed. Yes international students do bring revenue to US universities and H1 -B (all 65000) should only be available to US educated students who hold a Masters degree from a university accredited by US department of education. EB3 classification should be scrapped from USCIS regulations. H4 EAD is a dependent spousal visa should be made ineligible for work authorisations (for prospective applicants from fiscal year 2026). The system is so corrupt and has been abused and need to be fixed so people from all walks of life can benefit. At the moment 75 % of H1B approved petitions are for people who are born in India, which is unfair to citizens from other countries. Both employers and employees need to have a fair shot at labor market. We are an equal opportunity country and not India favourable country.

US colleges can't close admissions to International students. International students are cash cows for colleges. Several colleges are closing due to a lack of enrollment, financial problems, etc.

The US doesn’t have enough jobs for youth while taxes, rent, fuel, insurance and food have doubled in price, so yes it’s closing. The economy is bad despite what Biden gov says on paper.

The OPT programme for international students, benefits both the students (for seeking h1b visas at a later stage) and the US economy as well, as these students contribute quite huge amounts in the form of tuition fees & other expenses.

Regarding the job opportunities of the Americans being curtailed because of this programme, it is left to the US government, to continue the same, or reduce the work permit period, or to completely close the OPT.

The international students, including students from India, can just follow the rules prevalent at such times.

Let us hope the that US government will take a middle path, which will benefit all the stakeholders.

Good 👍 luck.

10 billion dollars contribution is a mere dime if compared to the US economy. Excessive Indian students these days.

Why go to other countries when you can enjoy freedom and luxuries in India itself, US economy is going down anyways. Stay here and enjoy freedom here itself instead of living like a slave in other countries.

In short this video is all about assumptions, the tagline with the question mark is just to gain attention for whoever is interested. It doesn't have any information other than what we already know and other interested people also.

If anybody wants proper information, they should rely on US immigration attorney videos and Q&A, rather than these videos which are trying to gain attention with the strong tagline.

Why don't American companies stay only within America and offload all their products on Americans only? Why they hanker for large Indian and Chinese markets?
Globalization can not be one sided for US benefits only

This would be a mistake for the US. We need the best and brightest. Indians are some of the most hard working, smartest people around. We need to allow more immigrants in.

While the world is opening its doors to skilled Indian talent such as Germany who have tripled their previous targets and now even Taiwan and South Korea, MAGA wants to look backwards.

Canada has only reduced its targets by 20% over the short term as a consequence of the business cycle and the government has clearly said they want expansive growth in the medium term. There are no changes anywhere else in the UK only the salary threshold for family visas has increased, which is well below the median tech wage.

At this rate I think China will become bigger in tech at an unprecedented pace, all thanks to MAGA. Lack of quality domestic talent + no foreign workers is not sustainable without outsourcing, which comes at it own cost.

If the US doesn't offer tech transfers India will likely cut them out and get them from Russia or develop their own and watch the American empire ride into the sunset like England over the next two decades.

The issue is massive unemployment in India. No wonder the youth want to run away. Even the rich are fleeing India.

Please don’t panic the students and parents, I don’t know why there is so much negative narrative in India against USA, please don’t spread this against USA, both USA & India are very diplomatic nations, every thing will be worked out.
