SpaceX and NASA have an UPDATED Master Plan for the Moon and Mars!

NASA has done very little to publicize their detailed plan to establish a permanent presence on the Moon and a 2030s mission to Mars. Here's the details and why it will definitely fail without SpaceX!

SpaceX reached orbit in 2008, but that doesn't take away from what they've accomplished. They've done all of this in 15 years, which is absolutely incredible.

As I've said(mostly to myself), we'll really be a space faring civilization when we refuel from space resources . . . design/build spaceships that can only exist in space, and of course have a permanent presence in space.

The Falcon 1 Successfully reached orbit on September 28, 2008 with a mass simulator. Not sure where you got the idea that hadn't happened by 2013. In November 2013, SpaceX was producing 1 Falcon 9 per month, as part of a successful launch campaign (to orbit).

While I agree that long term Starships should be used just for transportation, short term using obsolete Starships for habitation might be a good stop gap measure. Early settlers, especially on Mars, could use all the help they can get. Given the projected low cost of Starship, using some for habitats would make perfect sense.

It breaks my heart when I watch shows like Space 1999 where they figured we would have all this cool stuff on the moon by then. No one has even been back since the show ended in 1975.

0:45 actually in 2013 spacex had already reached orbit years ago, and was already using falcon 9 and dragon. no reusability yet though

SpaceX should really invest in a orbital refueling platform that would allow the fueling ships to dock and fill the transfer ship, add a expandable module to allow dragon to dock and the facility to be maintained/repaired or crew transfer to the transfer ship.

No need to land the lunar starship back on earth, and you could use dragon trunk trunk to transfer equipment to the lunar payload bay.

Pretty much every type of worker going to the moon needs to have some astronaut training. So there needs to be a push for space education in all fields. Everything out there is going to be different than the same thing on earth, from janitorial to cooking to building to mining to processing materials and on and on.
