NOTE: If your UVs vanish from the UV Editor after you go back to Texture Paint mode, don't panic! They are still there, they're just not showing. Looks like there may have been a change in later versions of Blender. As long as the UV looks correct while you're in Edit mode it shouldn't make a difference and you should be able to paint just fine. If you want to continue seeing your UVs, try changing from the UV Editor to the Image Editor instead while you're in Texture Paint mode - that should show the UVs again 😊

What I really like here, is something most tutorials don't do: Mimic a beginner's steps with unwanted results and show what would happen and why and then what the solution is :-)

THANK YOU! Thank you. I have viewed like 15+ videos on UV mapping, Textures, Texture painting but they ALL have left out, all of the little "gotchas" that you have finally covering in this video. So, frustrating when you do exactly what the tutorials say but you get NOTHING. Now I am finally getting the brush to actually leave behind a color. GREAT! and getting the results to the rendered view, and even exported to Unity, GREAT!

Good tutorial, I never really did much texturen painting but maybe I should. By the way, instead of selecting single faces and hitting CTRL+L to select all connected geometry, just move your mouse over the specific area and hit L. To add another area to the selection, move the mouse there and hit L again.

Screencast keys helps tons. You can copy and paste colours, place the cursor on top the coloured square, press CTRL + C and then go to the Fill Tool and CTRL + V with the cursor over the square and the colour from the brush will be pasted on the colour of the Fill Tool. Saves time eyeballing the colours again from the colour pallete.
