"One of the most influential women of the history" I just KNEW that it would be Hürrem

She is one of those characters (as in an individual with character, not a fictional person) that has always captivated me. Her story is one of preserverance and triumph over her circumstances. She also left a wake wide enough for several othwr women to achieve similat power after she was gone. A truly fascinating woman i always end up wishing i could know more about.

She was most likely Polish or Ukrainian, just serves as a reminder of how bad things were in Southeastern Europe at the time for Slavic people, can't believe my ancestors made it through all of that

Funny, they made a show about Hurrem of called "Magnificent Century". I don't know how good it is, but it's nice to see obscure historic figures get recognition again.

She was the fisrt one to set herself free through a legal marriage, they used to remain slaves forever if they came as such, even if they had children who would become future princes and princesses, but she really charmed the sultan; I think only her and maybe sultana Qosay /Qosam were able to do that.

She was Ukrainian and her real name was Nastia Lisovska, she was a priest’s daughter and was literate, which was rare for those times.

Looking at the time frame, theres a chace she met Vlad Dragul. Him and his brother were also sold to the Ottoman Empire as boys, and eventually became part of the royal guard that protected the emperor. Vlad eventually escaped but his brother stayed. Vlad made it thru the Carpathians and reclaimed his throne. The boys watched as their parents were betrayed by their fathers advisors and other heads of state. Vlad never forgot their faces....

They were surprised and scared. He convinced them all was well and invited them all to a royal banquet....where he had them all poisoned.
