As a film editor I realize why even in the professional world we stick to analog...it works better. Sometimes digital sounds cleaner but most of the time it also has less S/N response because most consumer digital audio has limited bandwidth. The fact that you have to use a different remote for the volume to the powered speakers shows it's limits as well. Analog audio's signal ( bandwidth and voltage) directly correspond to the sound that the audio equipment emits. Frankly, digital audio signals are only useful with the I/O of computers. Otherwise stick to analog...your life will be easier.

Hi! One question: which sounds better, the optical cable to the analog converter and rca connectors or use the TV headphones output with a 3.5 to rca cables to the sound system (my "old school" amp only has rca inputs)? Thank you!

What batteries does it need for the remote for the digital to analog converter ? I bought the energizer AA batteries but it was bigger than needed so it doesn't fit. The product description says AA batteries. What batteries are u using for this remote?

Just to mention, the bass boost feature will color your sound (in case you are music nerd like me). But it is also good to have it.

So the lg c1 is able to connect the xboom portable speakers as rear channels are you able to also connect a system to it and run the portable speakers as rear speakers at the same time

Here I thought that digital out was already converted to analog. I didn't know about that PCM part I'll have to see if my Samsung has that. I've been wondering if I need a DAC and that is how I got here. Would a DAC make the sound better from Hulu to Roku plus HDMI to TV, TV digital out to DAC, DAC to Onkyo HT?

Hey, Tech Steve. I have my LG C2 tv hooked up to a Marantz stereo amplifier via optical out. Everything is hooked up tight and there are no loose wires or faulty wires.
I experience sudden drop in the audio volume (for a millisecond) every now and then. There are no occuring intervals, just randomly. It's extraordinary irritating, and as of writing this comment, I opt to use the phono connection although I feel as tho I am missing some of the quality -- I may be wrong. Do you have any tips?

Hi steve, i know u mentioned the part about your system having an optical input. But do i still need a digital to Analog converter if both the tv and the speaker have an optical input?

The fact that you can use the headphones AND listen through the speakers would be helpful for someone who has hearing difficulties. It means that one can listen through the speakers at the volume level they desire while the person with the hearing difficulties can listen at the volume they desire through the headphones. I wonder it it's possible to add a Bluetooth transmitter to the converter so you could use wireless headphones?

I'm ole school Steve. KUDO'S to you for finding useful gadgets. I use optical on one of my sound bars because it doesn't have HDMI port. Optical isn't too bad for normal TV viewing. HDMI is better for movies and better quality TV shows.
