Day 2 I walked from intensive care down to my bed in the stepdown unit the the physical therapist took me on two more walks that day. Day 3 the PT took me on my morning walk. Right after lunch the PT took me on a walk but I only made it about 30 ft down the hall before I started shaking uncontrollably! I felt like I was freezing! Back to the room we went. I had gone into a-fib. It took two days to get my sinus rhythm back and a forth day to be sure. I was discharged on day six. I followed the printed exercise instructions completely which caused my heart to become arrhythmic on day 9 through day 10. The problem with rehab is this! It does not address the condition of the individual patients heart. On day 4 my doc came in and told me that my heart was mad due to the operation “AND” it needs time to heal from being over worked due to my failing AV. I have a hypertrophic in my left ventricle and a dialated left atrium. I have moderate cardiomegala! I’m headed to cardiac rehab tomorrow, day 22 post surgery! I believe this is too soon but I will go. I “WILL” shut it down and walk away if they can not answer my questions correctly which specific to my heart; not some text book crap that applies to the average patient! I am a retire advanced engineer who knows that the use of average in decision making is a recipe for stupidity!

I started on a low carb/intermittent fasting program last December. I lost 40 pounds over four months and have never felt better. Plenty of energy and no cravings for sweets and starchy foods. At the end of the four months, I had a mild heart attack . One artery was 99 blocked and was stented. Two months later I had quadruple bypass surgery. I am a type 2 diabetic. During the four months on the program, I was able to reduce my insulin dose by 90%. My ldl was 100. Doing great after surgery (into cardiac rehab). They have doubled my crestor dosage and are telling me to eat five servings of fruits and vegetables per day. Perplexed...

My husband had 8 bypasses & artificial aorta. He’s been in icu for 13 days. Expected to go out of icu today. Very weak but trying to walk as much as he can with a walker. After being in bed & critical for many days his muscles are like jelly. So he’s improving a little every day. Baby steps.
