While I see a clear communication difference, I want to point out the patient in particular. With the first scenario the patient immediately started yelling at the nurse. In the second she was asleep, and calm upon the nurses arrival. I feel seeing this example where the patients demeanor is negative to start with in both would be better.

If the medical issue is gender specific, might be best to ask patient 1st if they'd like to speak to same gender caregiver as some people won't speak to or give wrong answers to opposite gender caregiver no matter how much sensitivity training, education, or experience they have when it comes to gender specific issues.

If the patient is angry nurses automatically get frustrated its common because they are also in busy situation 😪
