Looks like a cool trip! A flight abroad when I get my PPL is now firmly on my wishlist... I just need to get out of circuit training first! Cool video Ben, thanks for sharing :)

Looks a great day out. Great mix of flying, impressive quiet airfields and interesting intro to IFR clearances.

Really enjoyed the video, Ben. Nice mix of footage from the cockpit and out of the window. Also appreciated the bit of airport footage and logistics as well as something from your time at your destination. Very professionally put together.

Nice flight Ben - enjoyed your perspective on the trip, with you and Antony being different personalities it's nice to see both videos and get each of your opinions. VFR flights plans however much they may be ignored would be useful over hostile territory or of course open water.

I once diverted en-route to France due to poor viz and my local ATCO who I was receiving a LARS service from (I won't name them here) wouldn't close my plan and neither would the tower at my landing field (Calais) so I got a call a few hours later from D&D in Le Bourget enquiring where I'd landed as my plan hadn't been closed by Calais so the French authorities definitely take them seriously and will act on overdue aircraft. Le Bourget were really annoyed that the ATCO wouldn't close my plan or send them a simple message over AFTN which would have prevented me being overdue.

That weather was a bummer, Quiberon and Belle Ile are two very nice short field runway with amazing scenery to fly over.

In IFR, are altitudes always given in Flight Levels? I (probably wrongly) though it was feet until transition altitude where it then became flight levels?
