Keys to fat loss:

1. Caloric deficit
2. Consistency

You do not need to be keto to lose fat. Caloric intake is what determines overall fat loss. Fasting/keto are tools. You can be keto but if you're in a caloric surplus, you will not lose weight!

I re-feed on the weekends, fast mon and tues, OMAD weds, Thurs and 16-8 Friday. I consistently whoosh Thursday. My energy is off the hook! I don't test, I truly just have learned when I feel that rush of energy and haven't eaten, I know that's my ketones burnin'! So far I am down 23 lbs in 2.5 months. 10lbs of the 23 was just in the last few weeks. It takes time to train your body to operate on ketones without feeling sluggish. If you can burn through your glycogen stores and get into a fasted state repeatedly, you will achieve ketosis faster and faster. Stick with it if you are trying.

What I understand, is when your body loses fat it converts to water. The fat cells hold onto the water until full. When cells are full, releases the water. Reason why scale doesn't show weightloss. In other words, if you are following your plan, , restricting your carbs, , do not have an appetite, , you are on target, , you can't trust your scale, trust how your clothes fit. For another low carb diet, , my body would not show ketosis.. disappointing since I was following their plan to the letter. ketone strips turned out to give me a psychologically downer like the scale. I choose not to use straps, because they don't know if I have an appetite or not. I use my appetite as a guage instead. I intermittently fast easily and eat one meal most days, some days I eat 2 meals to up my greens. Some days, I choose to fast. I basically follow my body. I was at a movie recently. Found myself running 4 times to bathroom. My body decided to release water. Have had it happen at night when I am up several times. Again, good feeling to know I am doing something right. When whoosh happens, it is a good thing, like losing your appetite. Don't make keto any harder than it needs to be. Eat your 8 to 10 cups of leafy greens with a fatty piece of protein and healthy fats your choice. Limit meat to 1 to 2 palm size. No snacking between meals unless your body needs more nutrients. Trick is to get adequate leafy greens in along with healthy fats, like 1/2 of an avocado. Idea to start make taco meat to top leafy greens, add quacamole, and 1/2 avocado. You can also do this at Golden corral. I love turnip greens, so I fill up on taco salad, turnip greens, and pulled pork. Very satisfying and my hubby is happy to eat somewhere he enjoys.

I never tested ketones, i just make sure as hell there is no way i am not in ketosis. Only carbs i get in is from avocados, olives and cucambers and some leafy greens and its never more than 1 avocado and i eat one peace of meat every day, and gradually i lowered it to 1 meal a day and i just went 2 days without food. I allso have 5 nuts or 5 strawbaries once or twice a week.

People complicate keeto to much, at start just incrase your fats lower meat and remove carbs as much as you can, the longer you go the less food you will eat and it will kinda work it self out. Remember if you are a fatass like me, just removing carbs will make you lose weight, getting in ketosis is a nice bonus.

Yes, the whoosh effect happens at random. Another way you can tell a whoosh is coming is the fat feels squishy or feel like you have marbles underneath your skin. Also people who are overweight to begin with will see the whoosh effect occur more frequently than more leaner people. The leaner you get, the more non-linear the whoosh effect happens. Nutrition plays a vital role. Having a cheat meal can help bring the whoosh effect potentially sooner if done correctly. Plus it's for sanity sake as well.

When cutting weight I follow a low low carb diet but not so low it's a keto and my weight loss seems to follow the whoosh. Meaning I remain at one point for usually around 10 days then suddenly I'll step on the scale and my weight will be down 4 to 6 lbs. Then it will jump a pound or 2 and plateau for another week or two. Month to month I lose about 8 lbs but I only see the drops like every 2 weeks.

Sticks don't necessarily indicate you're in ketosis. Also don't mean you're fat adapted. Best way is to test with a meter.

Whenever I diet I lose weight in two very different phases that alternate weekly. That is, in week one I lose sognificant weight (usually 4-6 lbs) then in week two I dont lose any ( sometimes even gain a pound or two). The next week I lose another 4-6 lbs and the following week is another zero loss week. This is an on going cylce for me. A week of tremendous weight loss followed by a week where I dont lose any and sometimes even gain a little. As the diet progresses the weight loss I see smaller losses and followed by larger gains the folllowing week. In the first few months I typically average 8-10 pounds of loss per month. This tapers off each month so that by the 4th month I am seeing a 4-6 lb loss. Ive never needed more than 4 montha to reach my goal weight but I suspect the losses would continue to shrink the longer I dieted.

The only think I would point out is that sometimes if your well hydrated and fat adapted the strip will show up negative. I only test positive with the strips when I haven't had enough water.

No, do NOT cut your ketone strips in half. In fact, you need to limit the amount of air it’s exposed to. These strips quickly degrade when not in its sealed container. Here’s a good weight loss tip: stop being cheap! This is your health we’re talking about.

Pee strips can come produce false negatives. If your body can efficiently produce ketones, you may not see ketones in your urine. Best would be to check your blood ketone levels.

Well the place holder description is kind of a good way of thinking about it. However, its not going to refill in the form of "carbs or glycogen", but instead the cells are waiting for excess triglycerides(fat) to circulate in the blood from a surplus in calories. While carbs can be converted to triglycerides in extreme cases the likely refill mechanism will probably require dietary fat while in a calorie surplus. So to get rid of the squishy fat a person can either remain in deficit and get the whoosh effect, or eat in surplus and replace the water with new dietary fat.

I’ve been training twice a day, 30 mins of walking on thre treadmill on an empty stomach and weights and another 20 minutes of walking in the evening along with a strict low carb high protein diet. My clothes are looser after three weeks but the weigh won’t drop!! It’s sooo frustrating, what do i do??
