Use a 4 inch or 5 inch circular lid, or ring that you can put the pencil in the centre off and roll around the edge to scribe it

Could have used a plastic framing square to "scribe" it way faster . Atleast thats what ive done and is quick and doesn't scratch or mar the finish of the surface your cutting around because of the plastic $3 framing square

Ignore the 1/4 expansion gap that is necessary for the floors to expand and travel. Not the safest way to go

shouldn't he of cut into the stairs to allow it to float properly and or put a quarter round over it? wouldn't this get called out during inspection?
