I served on two Arleigh-Burke class destroyers, my first was USS Mitscher (DDG-57) and then I was part of the pre-com team for USS Momsen (DDG-92) where I was a Firecontrolman working the 5" gun weapon system. I loved my job and thanks to this vid, just showed my kids what I used to do. I was also explaining about the DIS and TIS camera up above the bridge. For some reason the brakes were always going out on that dang thing.

Any other metalworkers wanting to run out on that deck and grab those shells before they roll off into the ocean? The things I could make with that much brass!

Same ship class as the USS Nathan James in _The Last Ship._ I think it's even a Flight IIa ship, so it's nearly identical, except it's not DDG-97 USS Halsey, which was the stand-in for Nathan James.

Hey quick question off topic but somewhat related. I saw this overlayed with some sort of dubstep/drum and bass song, it was bad ass but the song just made the first round badass on the drop. Any ideas where i could find that vid again?

When a missile has a higher range and better accuracy and then there is a CIWS like AK-630 then what's the use of an Oto Melara type gun?
