I found that RTX HDR works better in some games than the native HDR. For example, Dead Space's HDR on PC works okay but when you turn off the native HDR and turn on RTX HDR it makes Dead Space look much better, also the plus to RTX HDR you can control the brightness, contrast and saturation of the game. Which will allow you to make the game look the way u want it. In some games the native HDR is better like the Ghost of Tsushima.

I'm waiting on my gigabyte g34wqc-a to arrive, it's only a HDR400 monitor. But it does have a 4000:1 contrast ratio. Will RTX HDR simply not work or will it just look poor?

EDIT: It's reported to peak around 480nits. Which i know, isn't perfect.

Eats 10% performance, or even more. Is also bugged, once turned on, even if turned off will continue to eat performance requiring a full reinstall. Debanding filter removes fine detail. Blown out highlights crushing detail as well. Pass.

Your "HDR" examples (which obviously aren't even HDR, since the entire video is mastered in SDR) in this video actually contain *less* highlight detail than the SDR. See for example the sea waves in the bottom part of the coast scene at 2:35. And in general, you're not showing any examples of actual HDR benefit in the entire video, all you are showing as "HDR" is SDR with its levels stretched, which only futher solidifies the misconceptions about how HDR works and looks, already way too prevalent among the (largely clueless) general public. Then again that's essentially all RTX HDR itself does beyond all the "it's AI, bro, trust us!" talk from nVidia, so...yeah.
(Also, the nVidia clip about "too dark SDR" shown at around 2:55 was completely faked for the purpose of the nVidia presentation, as was most of that presentation.)
