Got a Fedex courier call? Beware of FedEx scam

The FedEx scam is the new thriving scam in the market, where fraudsters impersonate FedEx employees, police and customs officials and claim that there is a courier containing illegal items in your name. Thousands of people are getting such calls. Many people- including scientists, journalists and techies have become victims and paid lakhs and crores of money. So what is this FedEx scam? TNM's Shabbir Ahmed explains.

I have also got the similar call yesterday...they engaged me for almost an hour interrogating like real CBI officers.... I really had no words as I am a common man, not aware of these kinds of fraud calls. I just came to know by this video as it was a fraud call. Now I am relaxed with your video. I got this call. But after multiple questions, I started doubting the caller. Immediately I called FedEx customer care and reported the incident. They confirmed that it is a scam. Luckily, I did not lose any money.

Received this call today and same thing they told as Sir said
in the video but they didn’t claim me any charges. They only asked my Aadhaar card and my bank accounts last four digit only and they told me that for any further query they will contact me, but they didn’t charge me any kind of money, but I watched this video after the call and now I will not give importance to those scammers and told them if any called I will receive that do whatever you want

I also got a call today and i was very nervous after talking to person who is showing him a CBI from mumbai police. He was literally threatening me to come over skype for video call as proof to file complaint. Otherwise court will take legal action on you and you have to face the consequences then we will not be able to help you something like that. I said give me sometime i am nervous let me talk to family and call you again but he didn't agreed to cut the call. He wanted to have call right away and was threatening repeatedly then i doubted his behaviour and after few mins i cut the call trusting my senses.
Later i found this video feeling very relaxed and safe.Thankyou so much sir🎉

Just got the call. Same Mumbai to Iran parcel thing, and it is with customs. He said police will do verification, aadhar is leaked. I’ll help you. I immediately stopped him saying it’s not your job now since you are a fedex employee. You stopped the courier and I’ll handle the rest. I'm a new victim of this scam. I wish I saw this video a bit earlier. They recorded me for nearly 90 minutes and I kept answering all their questions. At one point, I wasn't convinced with the line of questioning, but I was too worried about my personal details being misused, and just wanted to cooperate with them. I still had so many questions in mind, and I finally came across this video. Now I'm totally relaxed. I must admit these scammers sounded very authentic, but I consider myself lucky for being poor, and they probably got convinced I was poor😂

Question: If they have recorded the victim's video (of very long duration) and also have their Adhaar number and mobile number. Bank account information (thankfully, not the account number). What are the ways they can misuse this? Its essentially identity theft, what can an individual do if that happens?
Context: My friend was engaged in such scam call but disconnected the moment they asked for money.
