I think one of Jacobs favourite instruments is the crowd

I was at that concert. He asked how many people in the audience were musicians. Every single person put their hands up!

Man huge props to the sound engineer. Wouldn’t be easy to pull off a show like this.

Manager: "Ok Jacob, what do we need for the concert in Toronto?"
Jacob: "I need two guys, one for drums one for bass, also a lady who sings in the background sometimes but not all the time, and for myself I will need a piano, an harmonizer, another drum set, a whole arrangement of percussions, upright bass, electric bass guitar, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, a couple hundred ukuleles and this rock I found on the street that makes a cool G half Sharp sound"
Manager "aight anything else?"
Jacob: "Yea of course that's just for one song"

What I love about him is his sheer creativity and fearlessness. He sticks to music rules without being held prisoner by them. Exuberance and freedom - the whole package stretches boundaries until he climbs out of the box. I’m 75 and he is the same age as my grandson, who, when he was three, I encouraged him to express himself on the piano and interpret the story I was telling him, with which he did without ever having had a lesson - pure instinct.

This guys aesthetic is like, "let's see how far I can bend the limitations of musical genre today" and I absolutely love it.

It's not even just the music. The collaboration with the crowd. The light choreography. This is such a performance.

I've heard music before, but I never knew this was an option.

This is insane. The energy this guy has on stage is second to none.
Let alone the fact that his writing is layered and deep, his music inspiring and he just made the audience sing a flawless Harmony in less than ten seconds.

Obviously the percussion in the end is amazing, but can we also give some credit to the bass and synth players who kept up with that crazy ass rhythm?

Jacob Collier, the human MIDI controller.

With a degree in raising goosebumps.

Jacob, I will find you.

And I will shake your hand because damn that was awesome

That's a great band he's got there. Maro adds just enough to support his vocals and they can all keep up with his insane rhythm/harmony antics.

When he lets the tambourine fall @ 2:48 : it is perfectly on the beat making a cool sound effect. While falling. Out of his hand.

Anyone else actually impressed by the drummer switching and keeping time so well. Only Jacob can have such talent as the drummer and bassist and make them feel like backups

This video demonstrates that freedom that music gives you to get to where you want to get.

It also demonstrates how good Jacob is at this. Truly in a league of his own.
