Jacob Collier & AURORA - A Rock Somewhere X The Seed (Greenpeace)

Last month, AURORA and I joined Greenpeace on their expedition to the Arctic, to deepen our understanding of the crisis our planet is facing, and perform an ode to its protection together.

When the ship first anchored by the Sveabreen glacier, I was bowled over by its sheer beauty, but also by its deep fragility. We’ve lost two thirds of all the Arctic summer ice in the last forty years. It’s a shadow of its former self - yet it’s not too late for us to help.

Our oceans are in crisis. Industrial fishing, oil drilling, warming temperatures and plastic pollution threaten one of the most important ecosystems on earth, which threatens all life as we know it. In order for our oceans to recover and thrive, scientists are telling us we must create a network of global ocean sanctuaries that are off limits to industrial activity.

We’re joining Greenpeace in their call for a global ban on deep sea mining and for governments to protect at least 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030. Join us by signing the petition above and become an ocean defender today.

I WHOLHEARTEDLY BELIEVE THIS IS WHAT THE OCEAN AND SKY WOULD SOUND LIKE IN A DUET.

I'm convinced that wherever Jacob Collier goes, an instrument and another musician will instantly be summoned there by the will of the cosmos.

That harmony at the end feels like Mother Nature’s agonised scream at what we’re doing to her… 😢

Basically if the two settled down for a couple of years of duet writing, the world would be a better place

Seriously, if these two agreed to sell an audio of this song as a fundraiser, Id pay to have a downloadable version, and it could help greenpeace fundraise for this campaign ❤

Whatever magic was in this, my Parrot joined in every phrase. She is quite choosy about what music she responds to but this was her language!

For five years, when I first discovered Aurora and Jaboc almost simultaneously, I've been imagining this collab in my head, thinking how unlikely it is to happen. I love both of these artists. For their music. For their personality. For how they go about making music. And WHY they make music. Today, I wake up. Open my laptop. Go to YouTube. And the first thing on the front page in the upper left corner is THIS. And I'm AGITATED. I start shouting, throwing one curse after another. Then, a few seconds into the video, I start crying. Just the setting and the sounds of the ice are so perfect. And I weep and weep, more and more. I can't remember when I ever cried this hard. This performance surpasses everything I ever imagined it to be. I'm still in tears writing this. I feel endless gratitude. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!!
