Ozzy: The $9 intel quad core, the Q6600

Thank you Ozi for all of your hard work and time you put into this video! Especially during a big move! It was surreal to be able to work with you. Congratulations to Cameron for winning price to performance! I was jealous of his paint job on the fract design case.

And if anyone is wondering, Oz is just as; if not more awesome and kind in real life as he is in his videos.

I had a friend with a Q6600 I overcloked it for him to 4ghz (1866) running for 4 years straight then he gave it to another friend and he has had it since. thats over 11 years.

I remember back in the day I used a Q6600, it still works to this day. I overclocked it all the way up to 3.0GHz using just a piece of tape.

The Q6600 (was) is a great cpu, had mine for 6 years+, before I went to a i5-3550, now an I5-8400.

I used the Q6600 for 10 years. When I got it, it was alright, maybe a bit slower than the faster clocked Core 2 Duo chips, however as the time went, more and more games used all 4 cores and this CPU just aged amazingly. Even with the stock box cooler, you could get 3.0GHz out of it.

The C2Q 6600 is my gaming and editing rig since about 2010. Upgraded to an AMD R9 270x, 6GB DDR2 and an SSD for the OS and important games. It can still deliver passable framerates in older titles but it is definitely outdated. Assassin's Creed Origins won't even start, The Division 2 Beta had constant stuttering and freezes 🙁. Anyway, nice to see you back Ozzy, at least I got to be like Nr. 666! 😈

I was just unpacking some old stuff and came across my first I guess you could say desktop. It's a SFF eMachine I bought from Walmart and I immediately popped it open and seen what I could upgrade. I got it up to 8gb of ram, it had 2 and I upgrade the CPU from an Athlon to Athlon II x640 which is a quad core. I put windows 10 on an adata 512gb ssd and my MSI RX550 2gb OC SFF is on its way. It wont be a barn burner, but a good portable PC...

Isn't the base clock actually 2.4GHz for the Q6600?

Still beats the $300 gaming PC from Ebay you reviewed.

The Core2 Quad will always hold a special place in my heart for being the first Processor I built a PC around. I had a Q9450 and it still performs pretty well.

I still have an old Core 2 Quad Q9400 that I use in my Media PC that's hooked up to an HDTV. Still going strong!

@OzTalksHW
Here's the thing OZ, this competition used the Q6600. This was not the best C2Q in the Core2 lineup. This competition might have been better served by a Q9450 or Q9550. But hey this video was interesting and shows the difference OCing and a better video card can make.

I recently got an HP for free that had a q6600 in it, did the tape mod for 3.0GHz, brought it up to 8GB DDR2, and added an evga gt 1030 for a decent little $70 upgrade, now it can run most games
