Removing mower blades can be a very simple process with the correct tools. If you dont have the correct tools, it can be frustrating and very dangerous. This video shows the easiest, quickest, and safest way to remove the blades.

Use these links to purchase the items you need for the task. It doesn't cost you anything extra to purchase via these links but it does help support my channel.

se this link if you don't mind. Same price to you buy it helps support my channel.
When looking at Impact Drivers or Drills, I always recommend you purchase a brushless for longevity. They simply work better and last longer than standard drills. I also like the Ridgid brand for their Lifetime Service Agreement (must register tool).

The correct socket size is 15/16th not 5/16th. Sorry I misspoke in the video.

Precise and to the point. No BS talking about a bunch of crap you don’t need to do. Good to see a man with common sense. 👍

I used to use a floor jack, but since I had an awning put on my storage building with heavy lumber, I now use a chain hoist and raise it as high as I want . And yes definitely impact is only way to go for me . Very nice video!!!

ALWAYS use jackstands and never rely on a floor jack if any part of your body is going to be under the machine.
Whhel chocks would be good dea too.

So how are you going to properly torque using an impact driver? Won't you damage the shaft by overstretching and eventually stressing shaft enough the blades could work loose? Better off using a tool blocking blades from rotation and properly torquing.

Just did this with that exact same tool. When I went to start the mower one of the blades flew off. That was fun.

This requires Jack stands as that floor jack slips (especially with the parking brake on before lifting). Great video regardless.

Is it a reverse thread? What direction do you have to put the drill in, is it forward to unscrew?

Impact driver or
Impact wrench ?
Can you do it with a driver ?

Use anti-seize lube on bolts too. I take my blades to Hustler dealership. 8 bucks per blade to sharpen and balance. I don't feel confident enough to do myself.

Tightwad - let me ask the question a different way. What is the max torque of your impact driver? If you don't know, what is the model and I can look it up. I'm thinking that you will need a minimum of 100 ft/Lb of nut busting torque. This is really a time saver and worth the investment I think.

Another good video...one thing my MoJack directions say is to not engage the parking breaks until the mower is jacked up. But I have to say, the impact driver is awesome. On my fab deck, I am taking off the top pulley guard and putting a wrench in it or attaching a C-clamp. What you are doing is a great time saver. What torque in FT Lbs are you using? I’m using a torque wrench and tightening to 80 ft lbs. Can your impact wrench tighten to say 80 ft lbs? Thanks again.
