"Our focus is catching the worst of the worst and protecting as many kids as we can." - Lisette Garcia, Detective, LAPD

In this video, we shine a light on the work of the Los Angeles Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children taskforce, showing why they do the work, what keeps them doing it, and showing them actually in action and putting themselves on the line in the name of justice. We also got to talk to the team about their experience on the ICAC task force—getting a sense from them about what parents should be doing to protect their kids from the unique modern challenges that plague them.

Thank you to the team for trusting us to tell your story.

I have no idea how this came up on my feed, but while I'm here I thought I'd tell you and anyone else, a story.
I'm a mother of three young adult children and was living in Manhattan in 1979, in a beautiful apartment on the Upper West Side. Every day I'd pass the corner of 82nd Street and Columbus Avenue and EVERY SINGLE DAY there was a guy on that corner, handing out flyers. Not the same guy each time, but there was always someone handing them out.
Since I figured they were advertisements, I never accepted one or took an interest in looking at one. Finally, for some reason, I did take a flyer from one of the guys, after about a year.
When I looked at it, I saw that it was an advertisement to join NAMBLA. I nearly keeled over on the spot!! As I said, this was 1979 and these people were OPENLY recruiting for people to become NAMBLA members and to get a Bill passed in the New York legislature that would make NAMBLA legal, or something to that effect.
The killer though, was the short exchange I had with the guy who gave me the flyer. I was visibly pregnant at the time. When I told the guy how disgusted I was by his group and that this stuff would NEVER become legal in the United States, he responded by laughing and saying "Don't be so sure, lady! By the time that baby is 30 years old, this will not only be legal, but your kid can openly be a member and the government won't be able to stop him!" It's been ALL THESE YEARS and I've never forgotten this meeting with the NAMBLA guy on the corner near my apartment.
It seems like the thing I never believed could happen has become a plague now. Hats off to the people who are doing their best to fight
Thanks very much for the video!!
