Shopify SEO Optimization for Beginners (Step-by-Step)

Getting organic traffic to your Shopify store is very complicated. That's why today we're taking a look at all the Shopify SEO Optimizations you need to take to succeed online.

So what does it take to properly optimize your Shopify website for SEO? Well, when we're doing SEO for any Shopify store we can't forget that when we're building a Shopify website we're building an eCommerce website.

That means we have to be mindful of what it means to rank an eCommerce website and where traffic flows in eCommerce websites. If you guys remember seeing my previous e-commerce breakdowns most online stores get a chunk of traffic through their category pages.

So that's where we'll focus first. Let's see how we can build a phenomenal category or collection page inside of Shopify with all the SEO requirements checked off.

Once our collection pages are properly optimized we're then going to move on to our product pages. Product pages don't usually get a lot of direct organic traffic since most products aren't known enough to get any search traffic. It's important to not ignore product pages and still make sure to t do the basic SEO optimizations to make sure that everything is set up properly.

Finally, we're going to take a look at the blog, the hidden superpower behind all websites. This is especially true for eCommerce websites since there's the second chunk of keywords that can be reached through the blog. These are informational keywords that we won't be able to target with simple category pages.

I also cover some essential settings that some people forget to turn on when they're setting up their Shopify store.

Did I miss how you actually added the "Collection Desctiption" to the bottom of the collection page???

Love this! I agree that product pages are so important, however, the way Shopify structures the Collections Page template any content (Rich Text section, Testimonials, etc) that is added to one is added to all. Using your IKEA Sofas example, they have specific content on that page related to Sofas and Sectionals, but if they used Shopify, that same content would appear on ALL the Collection Pages. Any way around this? Thanks!
