Why do you watch sitcoms? It's not like they are the most intellectually stimulating programming on TV, but there's just something about them that we can't help but love. 

Sitcoms are a lot like comfort food for the soul. They are like the whipped cream on top of a steaming mug of hot chocolate, the down pillows on a luxurious bed, or the tequila in a frosty margarita, These are the kinds of shows that we like to watch so that we can pretend that our own lives are as perfect as theirs. Even though the jokes are always pretty corny, we don't mind. We watch them anyway because they bring a smile to our faces.

We watch for the drama that always somehow manages to resolve in the course of a half-hour – or an hour if it's a super-special two-parter. It almost feels like nothing can hurt us when we're lounging on the couch watching these picture-perfect families that have so graciously invited us into their homes as we laugh along with the live studio audience. We want to turn a blind eye to anything that could possibly rob us of the magic that we find on screen.

But sometimes when a show runs its course and years have gone by since its series finale, the gossip that would have once soured us now makes us drool with anticipation. We want to know it all! The dirt, illicit love-interests, arguments, the drugs! Almost every show ever is hiding some kind of scandal. Some of these controversies are pretty amusing while others are just sad.

Still yet, some will make you wish you could hop in a time machine and go back to a time before you learned everything you did about your beloved favorite childhood show. The reruns are ruined! Pack those DVD box sets up and put them in storage! But don't lie to yourself, you know you still love it. Just because your cherished little sitcom is now essentially a reality show that doesn't mean it was any less the groundbreaking series that you remember it as. The only difference is that now all of those characters that you once longed about being now make you feel grateful for not being them.
