The Irish Famine wasn't really about a crop failure either. They passed a law saying Irish people were only allowed to eat potatoes, so all other crops were for export.

The crazy thing is the entire concept of Israel was formed around religion.

Can’t help but say I take issue with Norm saying Gaza’s starvation isn’t the “Irish potato famine” when that was a famine largely created by a foreign oppressor who saw a solution to the Irish peasant population.
They intentionally denied food and were sending food from Ireland in massive numbers to their colonies overseas, they used the great hunger to increase forced evictions and to try to convert the population to their religion by offering food in return for conversion.
Half the population either died or emigrated while Britain helped orchestrate it, many Irish scholars have labelled it a genocide as well.
