Moore's personal life was marked by three significant marriages. Her first marriage to Richard Carleton Meeker, which began when she was just 18, produced her only son, Richie. The marriage ended in divorce after six years, and tragically, Richie died in a firearm accident in 1980, a loss that profoundly affected Moore. Her second marriage to television executive Grant Tinker in 1962 was both a personal and professional partnership. Together, they founded MTM Enterprises, producing hit shows like "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," which became a cultural phenomenon.

Despite their eventual divorce in 1981, Moore often credited Tinker for his support and influence during a pivotal time in her career. Her third marriage to Dr. Robert Levine in 1983 brought her stability and companionship until her death in 2017. Levine, a cardiologist, was described by Moore as her "knight in shining armor," and he often spoke about her bravery and humor, especially in the face of her battle with diabetes. Moore's legacy as an actress, producer, and advocate for diabetes research and animal rights continues to inspire, leaving an indelible mark on television and beyond. Her resilience, talent, and the deep connections she forged, particularly with Van Dyke, define her enduring influence and cherished memory. Mary Tyler Moore was lovely and ladylike. That combined with her beauty and talent made her a star. I still enjoy the reruns and am nostalgic about those times.

Disingenuous title. Should say Mary Tyler Moore and Dick Van Dyke both confirm they never had an affair.

Mary Tyler Moore was a beautiful, talented actress - both in comedy and drama, something that not many Hollywood actors are able to do. I enjoyed watching her on the Dick VanDyke Show as well as the MTM show - always enjoyed her performances because they were done in a natural, understated way, that made her roles so believable. One of the most talented, endearing actresses from the golden age of TV, who left her mark. RIP Ms.Tyler Moore - you will be missed.

I liked the living room on the Dick VanDyke show. Mary Tyler Moore was great on that series. M.T.M. in the 70s. She also played Christine St. George on That 70 s Show.

My favorite memory of the Mary Tyler Moore show was the end of the episode where they all stood staring out the window deeply moved by the setting sun.

I was always under the impression that Mary Tyler Moore's first role on television was as the legs and voice of the secretary for Peter Gunn.
