Betty White’s Big Break Was on ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’

Hollywood’s Betty White has died. Her agent confirmed to People Magazine. The actress and comedian has been in show business since the late 1930s. She appeared in commercials, game shows and on the radio. In the mid-50s, she starred in and produced “The Betty White Show,” a variety show on NBC. But her biggest break came in the early '70s on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. In the '80s, White landed her next big role, as Rose on the classic series, “The Golden Girls.”

My maternal grandmother loved her show Golden Girls. She’s passed away herself back in 2013 at age 93, but she knew well who Betty White was. Caught reruns of her show when I was little in the 90s. Used to watch it with my grandma.

Respect to a fine woman with wit to boot! Betty is now happily reunited with her Golden Girls cast, Mary Tyler Moore, and Ed Asner up there… 🙏
