I loved her in Ordinary People. She was so believable as a non-caring mother for her son. She made you want to dislike her. I was such a huge fan of hers

“Ordinary People” was a cinematic tour de force, and her ability to play an icy, unlovable character was brilliant.

My favorite of Mary Tyler Moore will always be the sitcom of "Dick Van Dyke Show." Mary played her part of "Laura" so well. Mary's movies also displayed her superior acting abilities.
🙏 RIP MARY TYLER MOORE 🙏

When I was a little girl, I loved to watch The Dick Van Dyke Show and the Mary Tyler Moore Show. I think MTM did a great deal for the women's movement showing that you could have a career, friendships and date and that just because you weren't married or didn't have children, you could still have a meaningful and happy life. I can't think of a little girl who didn't want to grow up and be Mary Richards. Her most poignant line from her show was the last scene of the final episode when she's telling everyone at WJM what they've meant to her. I'll paraphrase; "I got to thinking last night that my career might have been too important and that the people that I work with are just the people I work with and not my family. But what is a family anyway? It's just the people who make you feel really loved and cared for, and that's what you've done for me. Thank you for being my family. "

She was beautiful. She had a full life. Eventhough she had huge talent and intellect, being married to Grant Tinker didn't hurt her career, eventhough they divorced. She was well grounded in spite of her tragic circumstances of deaths in the family and rejection. She was very relatable.

Wow! Excellent profile. I had no idea about any problems except (diabetes which probably was connected to drinking!). She was a beloved actress who was so well known through TV situation comedy but also an amazing serious dramatic actress! May she be resting at peace in an uncomplicated universe!

Well, this is a real hack job. 1. where is her husband "opening up" about her death in this video?
2. The narrator says they met in mid 80s at a dinner party then says they were married in 1983. Huh? They didn't meet at a dinner party, he was her mother's physician they met at the hospital where he worked...AND.. he is NOT an endocrinologist, he's a cardiologist! Jeez.
3.
MTM went to the Ford Clinic after she married Dr. Levine in 83/84. 4. Says her "sobriety was challenged" when her son died in 1980. Uhh no. She got sober a few years later. 5. MTM says in her memoir that her drinking never affected her work. It is stated here it did, was late to rehearsals/shoots, etc.... This guy clearly did zero research. If you want to know more about Moore, read her memoir, AFTER ALL, or watch the documentary. This is a real hack job.

I have been in love with Mary Tyler Moore since first seeing her on the Dick Van Dyke show. Laura and Rob Petrie had the perfect marriage in my opinion. I know it was Hollywood. But what I wouldn't give for a marriage like that. Nobody cried better than Laura. The one episode where she fills in for Sally I hated. Because of the way Rob treated her for trying to help him. I can remember thinking what a jerk. Also the episode where where Rob was Directing the PTA talent show and when the gorgeous Mexican lady auditions and her heart sank so did mine. Her acting was spot on. But that's what made the show so good. What a talent and so believable. I loved all her shows. But If I had to pick it might be the Ray Murdock X-Ray episode. But the reason was for her dance with Rob. I think they were doing a Cha-Cha. She was such a good dancer. To this day I wish I could have dance that scene with her. I am also a huge fan of the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Also well written and well acted. I did not know her back story and it breaks my heart. She has given my many fond memories. It does appear her husband loved her very much.

Most always knew about her diabetes, but not about her alcoholism. I remember Dick Van Dyke in the 1970s did a groundbreaking special on tv about his own alcoholism.

Like Mary, my own mother had drinking problems until it took her life. And like Mary, addiction was passed onto us kids.

Really?! Her husbands name was Robert, and her son’s name was Richard?! Her life imitated the Dick Van Dyke show!!

I had always liked "the Mary Tyler Moore show". Mary was good as Mary Richard's. God rest her soul.

I knew she had diabetes but not that she suffered from alcoholism and did a remarkable job overcoming all these challenges. Glad she found happiness in her later years. I liked the Mary Tyler show but dpn't have a particular fav episode.
