Use the CHOOSE Function

Having a choice is always a good thing and it's no surprise that Excel would have a CHOOSE function to give you the power to choose. This handy function by itself really doesn't do much, but when you put it in some specific scenarios like offering a list for it to execute against, it actually comes in quite handy. For example it's a good way to figure out what quarter you are in if you have dates to match. Check out the video to see this brief example.

not sure why this is better than vlookup? it seems like a variation.. nothign to fancy. i would use a helper column so that way if i wanna change Q1, Q2.. ... like if i had 2 clients and one started its calendar year on jan1=Q1 and another started its calendar year on june1=Q1...
