We always tell people they need to go to Amsterdam. Not because it is pretty but more as a decoy for our small pretty cities (they can't handle mass tourism)

Hey Nate awesome video as always well done also i hate to correct you about my country the Netherlands it's not Holland we have two province's over here called Holland North and South Holland my country as a whole is called the Netherlands.
My opinion as a European on America is that its a great place to go too for a short or long vacation and the people over there are welcoming and generaly nice but other than that and no offence so glad to still live here in the Netherlands/Europe.
And like i said before awesome video keep up the great work Nate👍
And greetings from the Netherlands🇳🇱

Hello from Norway!
Yeah, it was a bit of a weird video and not what I was expecting. hehe, but its okay!
I think most americans are great, but the patriots with guns and freedom is really destroying americans reputation in my opinion.

Hey nate, I know this maybe sounds dumb, but I think you should definitely stay in Germany, the next time you visit your wife parents. From your other videos it's clearly visible that you have a strong binding to Germany, and you could easily find a well paid job with your security background, and people with your attitude and personality are more than welcome in Germany. If you want to work here, you definitely can build up a wealthy existence here. (I hope I spelled everything right).

New Hampshire, right and she tells near Canada. So New Hampshire is near Vancouver? 🤔😉

The lass from England asks: "Which city are you from?".
The lass from the USA answers: "New Hampshire".
I'm not going to Google this but isn't New Hampshire a state not a city.

Burritos and apple pie - Mexican and English. Again, confident enough to not Google those.

"How do you feel now that you've met a person from the US?"
I really wanted the answer to be: "I feel exactly the same, no different to beforehand".
The question came across as condescending.

Yes. London and Paris (etc), are not enjoyable places and capital cities do not portray a nation well.
On the same topic: I had a friend from West Virginia for a few years (through online gaming). I'm not from the most affluent part of England and we found some common ground (both areas were crippled by the removal of heavy industry). However, if you Google images of Yorkshire or West Virginia, you'll find beautiful natural landscapes.
You have to scratch below the surface before passing judgement. Again, I feel like the comment came from a blinkered perspective.

My father collected shotguns. I have memories of spitting out shot!! Lmao.
I'm talking 1970's. The same thing happened here as Australia. Someone murdered kids and the government got really serious about ownership.

Yeah the NHS isn't free, it's paid for by tax (all emergency services are). It's standardised and doesn't exclude, I think they're the actual positive aspects in comparison.

Overall, the video could have benefitted from a broader selection of input. Maybe throw in some different age groups and social backgrounds?

Cheers Nate.

My favourite: Taos, New Mexico (and for some readers: yes, New Mexico is a state in the US ;-) 💛❤️

10:30 I'm sure she meant how for example a todays size M is bigger than a size M 20 years ago. The companies just add a few centimeters to their clothes over the years and look at that! Nobody got fat! We're still wearing size M although we gained weight! 😄 I do have clothes in size "M - extra comfy" or "M - loose fit" it's an L 🥲

What you need to remember in regards to the differences between different regions, towns etc... is that most European towns and cities existed before cars and trains, etc... so mobility between communities was very limited, especially to those who were not upper class. People were born, lived, and died in the same place and rarely left. Where as in the US, a good portion of its country has only existed when better transportation was not only available but necessary due to the size of the country. So typically you will find much greater differences in culture, accent, dialect etc... from town to town and county to county in Europe and other older parts of the world than you do in either the USA or Canada. For example, there was a time in which the accents in London were so plentiful and distinct to area that you could actually tell what street someone lived on by how they spoke.

Yes, only visiting New York, Paris or Berlin will only paint a very obscure picture of the actual country. They all are representative of the country, don't get me wrong, but only to a certain degree. Visting Madison, Toulouse or Mainz on one's trip in addition will definitely help to get a better grasp of each of the respective countries.
Having said that, I'm well aware that this comes with a very important caveat. A 3hr drive from NYC will most probably make you experience a very different thing than NYC. Relatively...It won't paint a whole new picture.
Driving 3hrs in France or Germany will put you in a different world...😂
It's simply because the US is so much larger. To experience different general mindsets and cultural feats in the US, one has to travel 10000+ miles...NYC- It will take you weeks.
In France or Germany it is very different. That's doable in 2 days, technically. It's so much more 'condensed' in Europe...a 5hr drive out of Atlanta will not make much of a difference, compared to a 5hr drive from my place in Southwestern Germany. I would be in Italy, Southern France, Luxembourg or Switzerland (Or Hessen😂🤦). Another 3hrs will put me in the Czech Republic, Slovenia, the Netherlands or Belgium. Very, very different places.
Does that make sense? Ehhh, whatever... It was nice to hear your take, as always. And btw: if not Mexico, Texas would be my 'Burrito-spot' of choice...😂😜😘🍻

I agree with you, Nate! The video stayed a bit at the surface. I would be interested to hear more stereotypes like religion&politics, woke-culture, edcuation, etc. Or on the German side: Collectivism vs. individualism, Germans being too serious, being afraid of taking risks, not wanting to take over responsibility etc.
Oh man ... there is so much to talk about! 🙂
Keep up doing videos like this one. I really enjoy your channel.

a thing i realised happens a lot to europeans is underestimating how vast the US actually is. like there is friend A that lives in LA and friend 2 from Munich that visits the US - specificly new york - and asks if they can meet up
"uhm sure i guess you gonna fly to LA?"
"Nah new york but maybe i could drive and visit you"
"dude...are you serious? thats a long ass drive man"

what stuck with me here is that "I'm on my parent's plan coz I'm 22" and "My parents wouldnt be able to afford to pay that fine".

I'm not special, and I was not particularily hard working then even, but when I was 22 I had lived in my own appartment for 4 years and was about to get married. And she talking about parents paying fines. Yeah ok.

Regarding seeing more than the big cities when travelling, when friends tell me they’re going to Ireland, I always say don’t just go to Dublin.

Sometimes US citizens have more prejudices than Europeans.
And sometimes it may be better to know nothing about a country than to know the stereotypes only.😎

(2:11) Yeah, she should have said that she was in between Ontario Canada and Massachusetts. That would have been a better approach to acquaint Xen with the geographical location of New Hampshire.
(5:06) As for Virginia, I love the SW section of it, as it reminds me a bit of Northern New England, which is where I grew up. The mountains have decent elevation and the views are gorgeous. If you ever get an opportunity to do it, Nate, the Appalachian Trail from Daleville, Virginia north to Front Royal, VA is absolutely stunning and worth the hiking.
(6:50) I would actually love to visit Sachsenwald in Northeastern Germany and the Black Forest in Bavaria. My old friend from Beaufort, South Carolina lived in Germany when his father was stationed with the US Air Force in Wiesbaden, DE and it would be amazing to see the countryside of Germany, imo.
(12:51) As for the whole gun thing, where I am currently living, firearms are for hunting and personal safety from wildlife like bears and venomous snakes. We have two species of rattlesnakes here (Western Diamondback and Timber Rattlesnake), as well as Copperheads and water moccasins. We also have a large bear in the area weighing around 350 lbs last we saw that is not afraid of our pack of Pyrenees/Anatolian dogs and scares them down to the house, since s/he has torn open their backs a few times. I own a 9mm Taurus PT 111 G2 series pistol for that reason and don't usually have issues but would deploy it if necessary to protect my wolf hybrid. As for regular carry, I don't wear it on my person everywhere I go.

I think what she meant was between the Canadian border and Boston, but she said Canada which is not very specific. Ha ha, TexMex and Mexican food are pretty much American food these days. Virginia is realy nice. This lady seems a bit strange... New York, LA, San Francisco are known, mainly because of the movies. Also Orlando because of Disneyworld.
