"Graphics comparison"
*proceeds to ignore the fact that the Dreamcast has the best shading and goes off topic to the controls*

what are you talking about? the controls for dreamcast and gamecube were bad? i havent play the dreamcast version so i dont know about that but the gamecube controls are fine you are just probably used to the new controllers and stuff and not the old controllers thats why

Why does everybody hate the gamecube. I've been playing on it for like my whole life and it's been fine. Granted, I never have played it on anything else so I can't actually COMPARE it to anything, but I never found anything wrong with it.

I realize this is an old video now, but I have to echo the same comments that I see others posting regarding the video creator's decision to present the DC version of the game in 720p. While it is true that VGA would generally result in a cleaner image quality over component, it still didn't allow the DC to magically display in HD. If you're going for a fair comparison, you can't up-res the DC version of the game with external hardware or emulation while leaving GCN at its native res and then criticize the GCN for looking worse. That is just.... misleading.

Is it personal bias or an oversight? Not sure how it could be the latter, but I'm genuinely curious. Not trying to hate here. I enjoy these types of graphics and comparison videos, so I feel it's very important that the information is accurate. Scrolling through the comments, I haven't seen RookerVision ever give a direct reason for presenting the versions in an inaccurate way -- just kept stating the obvious. I mean, I love the DC as much as the next guy, and whether or not you think the DC version of SA2 was better or looked better or not is up to personal opinion. But it's a fact that both DC and GCN ran at 480p maximum resolution. If you're gonna upscale the DC version, you might as well upscale the GCN version with Dolphin and then do a comparison.

Dream cast is 720? You're joking right? The first HD system was Xbox. That number can't be correct.

Why is Dreamcast 720p?
And Gamecube at 480p.

Dreamcast is 480i.

The graphics on the PC port look the most "clear" because a lot of the lighting and effects (such as the added fog and dark shading in Eggman's stage, or the lends flaring in the opening cutscene) were either heavily edited or removed entirely, which is why Eggman's stage looks very stagnant effect wise compared to the Dreamcast or Gamecube version, which has varying lighting from room to room

If you want an accurate comparison you have to run all the games at the same resolution. Of course the GCN looks the worst you have it at 480p, while the dreamcast is upscaled to 720p, and the PC at 1080p.

im pretty sure dreamcast could not output sonic adventure 2 at 720p

LMAO, the 3 ports have exactly the same gameplay, i have those 3 versions, and the XB360 port (yes i own the game 4 times), and it is the same, the only differences are resolution, chao content and some signs here and there, oh right, and Big the cat.

Another big change in my opinion are the shadows (during cutscenes) on the DC version, they are far superior to that found in the GC. You can notice it quite alot, in the GC version the shadows are just round blobs while on DC they appear much more detailed.

I called it of course you’d say the HD releases.
ok, I need to point some things out the comments have said a billion times:
The DC and GameCube controls are good! You were experiencing input lag probably if connecting to a HD TV.
I would say the DC version is the best considering the GC and PC editions broke some of the good lighting functions, especially the cutscenes. It’s so bad that there’s a video explaining why the cutscenes suck.

I would still say the PC is the best IF you include mods, without the mods, I would say the Dreamcast, I jut like how the game looks nicer lol

Older versions of the GameCube have a VGA monitor output as well. Sonic Adventure 2: Battle on GameCube looks much better when you use the Dreamcast and GameCube on equally capable video outputs. Upconverting does not equal native resolution, either.

Dreamcast is 480p just like the Gamecube. There was no HD on either consoles.

I just noticed that shadows (not the character) are sometimes missing in the PC version (not sure about GC). Great example would be the first cutscene between Sonic and Shadow. It can also be seen in 2:48.

GameCube controls are definitely good. It’s hard because you didn’t experience it on the GameCube like most of us did man. It’s all about what you’re used to.

in the dreamcast version i see much for the lighting sun in the GC AND PC they reduce little bit of the lighting
