I had it also, but with a closed mouth!! A grape didn't even fit anymore. I had to drink my food.
It was painful, because it was caused by rheumatoid arthritis and everything got swallen by inflamation. I took antibiotica and then I was completely allergic to it....🙆‍♀️ Stayed whole summer holidays in hospital alone as a child, till I could open my mouth again. Horrible illness.

I have TMJ, sometimes it happens. My jaws will also unhinge and I have to wiggle them to get them in line again.

I yawned once and my jaw cracked so loud it soulnded like it broke. Hurt like hell for a few days. Sounded like I had sand in my joint then for months and that was annoying AF!

Should definitely teach that technique in schools today, just like CPR and Heimlich. I can see how it might be very helpful nowadays.

This happened to a friend of mine (he said it happened periodically throughout his life) and he seemed to me in excruciating pain. Idk if she’s just handling it better or if some cases are worse than others. He had to be sedated for the ED staff to put it back in place.

Nearly had it happen to me when I was a kid. Luckily clocked it on time, carefully pushed it back.

Lockjaw is caused by tetanus infection. This is TMJ. I have had it. I have also lost livestock due to lockjaw/tetanus.

I had that when i was alone at home as 8yo. I was scared but i managed to fix it

Omg OUCH! Im a chronic dislocator of my shoulders and that is extremely painful too.

I had this as a kid, but my mouth could still move somewhat normally, though with incredible pain. Sometimes, it would pop itself back into place, which was painful. Other times, I had to wait weeks for it to fix itself while struggling to eat, and I'd get a talking to for "not wanting to eat what was made." My parents never believed me and my dentist at the time said that it'd go away on its own and not to worry about it. I could barely eat or talk without lots of pain, but no one wanted to believe a child😡😡

My daughter got this in 8th grade after they cut out her wisdom teeth ( bc she was getting braces). It was so painful for her. I had to take her back to for them to fix it 😢
