Being a lasher is not for the weak! In this video I’m explaining what type of lashing you have to do on each ship because all of the ships are lashed different. There are some ships that the lashing is gravy 👌🏾 BUT it’s ships out there that you don’t wanna work on anymore or work a half shift! Lol

Our boats work similar but if we go 3 containers high on one particular boat it’s longs on the ends shorts all across. If it’s 4 or 5 high it’s longs all across and shorts all across. Our newest boat is 4 high takes shorts all across and 5 high is longs and shorts. Plus we have to take them all down first so one person can take down 80 bars and put back up 80. 40 long 40 short so yah it’s not for everyone then tighten or breaking the binders sucks ass as well!! Stay safe brother… LSPU Ila global power ✊

To any green hats just starting beside the tips for lifting you also never ever leave a bar long or short hanging in the pocket as the crane can land a container 4 bays out and the banging can pop a bar out if you don’t have your hand on it or it’s not lashed to the boat. It’s the most common way to get injured as a longshoreman. People taking down bars leave one in the pocket and it pops out then hits your helmet and knocks all your teeth out best case scenario!!!

I’m 5’-6” and do 3 high alone it’s all about leverage and heart be safe and ask for help when necessary size don’t matter but remember work smarter not harder 👍🏾

Yea good point with the long bar is to pace yourself and use you partners foot to walk the bar up and if you have to walk with it have the bar as close to the ground as possible then when your ready to place the long bar bend all the way down with your legs and lift straight up with your legs and have your hands in a wide position!! If not I don’t care how strong you are fatigue will set in until your body is use to this type of lifting!!

There it is!!! Thanks brother for going thru the job. Got on the ship today did orientation/training for an 1hour, my forearms and shoulders were on fire haha. I was going too fast trying to impress, now I know I gotta slow down the pace. I’m sure it’ll get used to it with time. Anyways thanks for the information!

I feel attacked lol I did my lashing training today. That rod to lashing on a 3-high did it. I was reconsidering my entire life after that. But I did it and got my ID today. Now, I can make a video about the process.
