Our sixth annual eMTB Shootout and Group Review was certainly one for the books! Once again, our crew had the lucky opportunity to travel to an amazing new trail network – Howler Bike Park in Branson, MO. We compared 14 electric mountain bikes on Howler’s trails to give you the low-down on the best eMTBs on the market. The trust placed in us by our viewers, readers and the bike industry are not taken lightly. Though it adds a fair bit of stress and pressure to an already stressful undertaking, we couldn’t be more thankful.

When we founded Loam Wolf in 2017, we made a pledge to be as honest and trustworthy as possible and that cornerstone remains. Knowing that readers work hard and save money to make large purchases based, in part, on our words weighs heavily on us and we strive to give you the best information possible. We hope that our 2024 eBike group test offers you insight, knowledge, and food for thought as you consider your next eMTB purchase. Whether it be one of the 14 bikes reviewed here, or something else.

Our crew would also like to take a moment to extend a huge thank you to Schwalbe Tires and Fox Racing for returning to sponsor our eMTB Shootout. Their support was greatly appreciated as we took on the heavy load of putting this project together. Thanks to Schwalbe we were able to outfit each and every test bike with a set of Soft compound Magic Mary 2.4 tires in the Super Gravity casing. Fox Racing stepped up and ensured that our riders didn’t just look good on the trail, but also had trustworthy protection from head to toe. We didn’t have a single issue with our shoes, knee pads, kit or helmets. Having gear and product that we can trust and not think about lets us focus just on the task at hand, reviewing bikes! So, thank you to Fox Racing and Schwalbe Tires for helping us with product and means to tow along a camera crew, and feed 8 hungry crew members and transport 14 eBikes across the country. Without their support – and of course the support of our fans and viewers – this would not be possible.

Thank you and let’s get on with the show!
–Drew and TLW Crew

I watched every minute of this video and in the end got an "everybody gets a trophy" sort of feel. I understand you were able make several brands happy but based on the scores given on each bike along the way, I think you should have chosen a clear winner IMO. Thats said, thanks for putting in the work to test a lot of bikes, I know its not all fun.

Really appreciate the time and effort that you've all put into doing the shootout videos!! How about doing an ultimate shootout by pitching the previous year's winners against each other?! I'd love to see how the winning trek rail (the model i have) stacks up against the latest bikes!!

I just bought a Levo comp aluminum for $5600 seams like it would do very well in the budget or most categories for an all rounder? It's a 23-24 model

I’m fortune enough to own an Orbea Wild. If l’m not riding it, I’m thinking about riding it.

Have my strive on underdog for couple of months now. My first e-mtb, got it on Sale with biggest battery for just 5k euro. Pretty happy with the bike :D Agree on the brakes part, DB8 are ok brakes untill they are not, hence my shimano xt coming on them from my old acoustic strive.

It would be good to see some more heavier rider's on these shows as alot of us getting back into it say after few years n few lbs extra the suspension is nightmare to get the sag set up!

You guys were instrumental input into my Yeti 160E purchase. Love the reviews here, and even more stoked you tested in part at Coler before the tornado came through. It's gonna be a long time before things are great here again, but we still have plenty in reach to go ride.

Love my Orbea Wild M11! Glad you guys still love it too! Also, it's literally the quietest bike I own.

Awesome review! Getting ready to head to Stowe VT for a month of MTB adventure! I’ve got my Santa Cruz -Heckler and Gen 6 Nomad (for the trails that are still off limits for e-MTB 🤦‍♂️. Wish you guys would have reviewed the Heckler and Bulit - both super insane and Soooo much fun to crank up and down single track on.

Hi thanks for your great work! I’m an intermediate rider that is looking for an emtb to tow my 10 year old up climbing trails and fire roads and try and keep up with him on the way back down.
He is getting pretty fast and only wants to do black and double black diamond trails. I’ve ridden the new Norco Range, which I loved. My only concern is that it may not be much of an all rounder and I’m considering maybe the Orbea Wild. I’d love your opinion if you think I should consider anything else?

Just missed y'all at Howler. Was there the weekend before and came back for a 'Glamping' tent weekend the day after you finished and rolled out....the Underbite Enduro weekend.
Great review, ...we watch it all. Superb job guys. Glad you enjoyed our local bike park, Howler Bike Park!!
