If anything, this is a win for Charles too. He gets to see a world champion up close at work, Lewis has a lot of media attention which makes media pressure lower for Charles. If he gets beaten narrowly, it's not bad since it's Hamilton. If he beats him, he shows he has the raw talent and competence to beat a 7 time world champion. Charles has nothing to lose here.
