This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my YouTube channel 8 months ago about self development. Now I have 773 subs and > 300 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

For some who can't watch the entire video:

1. Choose a topic for your channel (Try looking at other channels for ideas, your channel can have multiple topics but try to narrow it down)
2. Who will watch your videos and why? (What kind of audience will be attracted to your content?)
3. Brainstorm 100 video ideas (just to be prepared and you will always have many ideas for a video)
4. Choose your equipment (You may start off with a phone to film with, you dont need to start with any fancy equipment and try use natural lighting🙂)
5. Decide on a filming and upload schedule (Try filming at least 1 a week to keep your viewers satisfied, quality over quantity! Also edit and upload at a good and productive time and stage)
6. Actually create your channel! (Just login with gmail and ect.)
7. Remember banner and description for your channel (So that your viewers see you are productive and focused)
8. Film your first video (You might not find it normal talking to a camera or phone but you will adjust!)
9. Edit and choose your thumbnail (many editing apps but dont choose something overly complicated👍 )
10. Upload your video edited and approved (Try your best to upload a certain time)
11. Like, comment and share (You need to boost and advertise your first video as much as possible and make sure that it gets noticed)
12. Stay consistent (At the beginning you may believe this will be amazing but later you may get tired of no growth or the same old thing but dont give up!)

Very clear and organized presentation, Gillian. As a Chartered Accountant, the past few years have been very very hectic due to professional commitments. While I have a few other interests other than finance and accounts, I never ever thought of making my own Youtube channel. Now with the Covid 19 pandemic and working out of home for the past 8 weeks, I have been able to organize myself a little better. I had produced a music album with a very famous Indian singer and a famous music director a few years back. I have now decided to do another music album with the same music director. I spoke with him yesterday and he said he saw my first production on Youtube. I was shocked as I had never put it on Youtube yet as I was planning to film the songs and then put it instead of just the sound bytes. I located my music album that was uploaded and immediately contacted Youtube to try and take it out. While this may take a while, I then decided to find out how to have my own channel, especially now that I am getting ready for my next music album production. So decided to self educate on the channel opening process. This is where I stumbled across this video of yours. It was very very helpful. The clarity you provided for beginners was really wonderful.
