Surprised you didn’t point out that the electrified magic dome in the final battle was foreshadowed by Billy’s plasma ball in his room overloading with power and exploding after he got woken up from his WW dream

Honestly, anthea’s powers were so cool. It was like doctor strange or doctor fate but different enough to be unique

Thank you for mentioning the difference between Asher Angel's version of the character and Zachary Levi's. I really wish Levi would have played his character as earnestly as Angel did. Here's a kid that's had such a rough life and says the magic word and it's all forgotten, until he says it again.

Also, the rating system for the doors ("M for mature", "E for everyone") is based on videogames. The author of the rating system is Eugene, the biggest videogame fan in the Shazamily.

I took the more serious tone Asher's billy had compared to Levi's Billy as intentional. We're constantly reminded throughout the film that billy is struggling with his abandonment issues and other trauma he's faced in the past so he's a lot more closed off, all while he's still a kid (17). When he turns to Shazam, he's much bigger and much more powerful. I feel like he sees that as a way to escape what he deals with as regular small kid billy, so he becomes more confident and playful and he's able to just become a lot more goofy behind a 6"2 (or wtv) muscular and powerful mask hahaha. When he doesnt have that power, he feels small again and his issues feel like its greater than his power. You even see how serious he was when he had the whole conversation with his mom, and when he turns to Shazam after he becomes that confident person again and just gives a wink and flies off. idk i feel like it gives Billy as a whole a lot more layers

As someone who avoided the trailers for this movie, my jaw hit the floor and I actually jumped out of my seat when Gal Gadot appeared with that music.

I don't know how anyone is not enjoying this movie but I loved this movie it was very fun and the perfect sequel I loved the first Shazam! But the second one I think is better. Shazam! Is one of my favourite DC Superheroes now ⚡

Fun fact: Freddie's t-shirt with the tree emblem is actually the White Tree of Gondor from The Lord of the Rings.

That tree on his shirt was the White Tree of Gondor

9:30 Billy mispronouncing Solomon made me think of how Bill and Ted said so-crates instead of socrates haha

Not sure if this was mentioned yet, but the closing credits begin with Elvis singing a little less talk and a lot more action. Elvis was a huge Captain Marvel Jr. fan, it's why he started wearing short capes with his jumpsuits.

Wow that cameo of the old shazam actor is just crazy.. my respect for him ⭐

4:36 Not just any tree, that's the flag of Gondor from the Lord of the Rings--a nation protecting a special magical tree from an ancient time period.

I love this movie. Yes Zachary Levi is playing a little too childish but he is a great Shazam and I love the actor who plays Billy. I hope this continues into the DCU.

I went into this movie thinking it's just going to be a fun superhero ride I was not disappointed so idk what the beef is

The final showdown inside of the dome is already foreshadowed before in a scene, where Billy wakes up from the wizard's dream and notices the plasma ball getting overcharged and burst.

Honestly, I’m happier when bullying against disabled people isn’t specifically called out in fiction. It treats us as people rather than poor defenseless objects of pity. Freddie’s portrayal of his impairment was great in this film.

The tree shirt that he was wearing is the symbol of the white tree of Gondor from Lord of the Rings. I don’t think it was focused on in the movie, but in the books it’s a tree that’s dying because Gondor has no king, only to be restored at the end when Aragorn is crowned. Foreshadowing the tree in the Greek gods realm at the end of the movie.

I agree I love the Shazam movie. I also don’t think that every superhero needs to be so serious all the time it makes them more human. More relatable, and definitely funnier to watch.

Thanks for giving the movie a full breakdown, I know that it doesn’t have the critical acclaim that it deserves, so it’s nice to see it getting some sort of recognition; it felt like a og feel good superhero movie about doing the right thing!

I love both movies, but my biggest issue is Zachary Levi’s Billy feels like a total different character compared to Asher’s Billy.
