A *possible* (not definitive, I'm not a doctor, this is speculation at this point) early sign that I have noticed after living with a Grandmother as she developed Alzheimer's and now my mother has to do with their taste of food. Both complained about food tastes changing long before mental symptoms appeared and after alzheimer's set in. It was that nothing tasted good. If it did, it wouldn't last long. They often complained that fresh food tasted off, rancid, spicey, chemically flavored, etc. Sometimes it would induce vomiting. But other people eating the same exact food didn't notice anything. It should be something that is researched, with the new medications coming out to slow alzheimer's it could possibly extend people's time while their mind is still functioning as it should and increase their quality of life. It also be could be a symptom that could get people to go into their doctors to get tested for Alzheimer Disease.
