In this video, Tom discusses the concept of Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) and explains why we use multiple tools for the process. The three tools mentioned are Reader from Readwise, Tana and Heptabase, and Tom outlines how each plays a role in the ICOR® methodology for taking digital notes and managing personal knowledge. The video details the process from information capture to the final storage of information, with Reader for initial capture, Tana for swift categorizing and quick-thinking 'Shallow Thinking', and Heptabase for more complex, visual organization for 'Deep Thinking'. The concept of Shallow vs Deep Thinking is explored throughout with a focus on using these thinking styles in conjunction with the three tools to fully understand, synthesize, and store information. Other tools like Miro and Snipd are mentioned strategically to cater different types of information. The effectiveness of each tool is demonstrated through real-life examples and usage scenarios.

Have you moved completely away from using hand-written notes with Apple Pencil/Notability or Remarkable?

This is a great way of breaking down how to use these kinds of apps. I wish I knew this before the Second Brain which is more abstract.

When will there a public release for Tana? It feels like it take ages until you get access.

Hi Tom, thank you very much for a very interesting video! A question arises in my mind. When you create a snippet, it is automatically forwarded to Readwise and from there to Tana and Heptabase. How do you decide which snippet ends up in Tana and which in Heptabase and how does it work technically? Or is the snippet automatically saved in both apps? If this is the case, isn't it counterproductive to maintain the same information in two different places? Just a thought. I would be very happy to receive an answer from you. BR Holger

Nice, clean website, Tom. Did you design the site in-house, or was it commissioned?

Hi Tom, thanks for the great content. I’ve been following your videos for a few months now and as a Notion User i wonder in the example you highlight here where exactly would you put Notion in that flow please ?
Thanks

Hi Tom! I realy like your Videos and i think i will give your courses a try. I ve played around with many PKM tools like Obsidian, Capacities, Notion, Heptabase, Clickup etc. but didn't find the fitting all in one solution for me. Maybee Tana is the way to go, but i m not able to try it because i am still on the waiing
list...
