Albert Dros is a famous landscape photographer from the Netherlands and I'm a big fan, especially of his very unique photo editing style. So with this video I want to approach one of my shots with the goal of making it look like a Photo edited by Albert. For this purpose I'm using a dusk-scene captured shortly after sunset (the time is super important for this kind of editing style!) and I'm also working on an HDR file which gives me more dynamic range to work with (I can pull out more details from the shadows and the highlights and thus prevent clipping).

A good start would be to crop out most of the road at the bottom of the image and straightening the scene as the tower is leaning to the right.

Instead of making the black to transparent gradient on the sky, try duplicating the entire image and set the blending mode to multiply and then apply the layer mask and gradient.
Then you get a coloured gradient instead of a "grey" gradient.
You can turn down the saturation, if it's too much.
Keep it up.

TIP! A more contrasty and awesome orton glow effect that I apply is as follows:

1) duplicate the final image onto a new layer
2) apply a blur to that image
3) EDIT> FADE GAUSSIAN BLUR
4) Set the blend mode to OVERLAY
5) Lower the opacity to around 30% or your liking.

The result is a very contrasty Orton Effect. Pretty unique if you ask me.

WTF I was seriously thinking in asking you to make more of this kind of tutorials of another of my favourite photographers I follow on Instagram because you nailed the Max Rive one. Albert Dros was gonna be one of my suggestions and you read my mind! Thank you so much. It seems we have similar tastes. Albert Dros uses the saturation and Vibrance sliders to achieve the results he gets. There is editorials up on YouTube showing exactly how he does it
