I loved the video, personally I’m not to crazy about trying to make it loop; but I’ll definitely look at more of your videos!

Exactly. I like "capturing" reality as the closest as the human eye sees it, but is not always like that: if I'm making a photo to a landscape, like a mountain I do not edit it too much, but when it comes to street photography I like the feelings you can transmit by changing some details such as the colour.

In a parallel universe where Gordon Ramsay is a photographer: that picture is bloody raw!

This is an awesome explanation! I actually feel like this will make me a better editor.

editing photos to show how it feels to be at that place, in that moment, is what make photography art.
Nicely explained videos, my photography prof just told us to "edit it like this and that" but never why.
lots of my classmates didn't pursue photography further than that one class

This is the exact thing that I want to explain to my non-photographer friends. Because they think that "raw" just literally means "unedited" but it's actually more complicated than that.

It looks better, gives it the feeling you like, adds that "spice, flare, flame, spark" it just makes it nice and good.

Like a painter painting a scene, adding effects create feelings

This man knows how to turn 1 simple answer, that is no longer than a phrase, into an entire paragraph. I need him for my essays

The funny thing, in those example pictures, most of them looked better raw than edited

I think your answer presents photography as something constrained with a singular purpose. Photography is more than just documenting moments, it serves an endless number of purposes. Raw images give greater latitude for the photographer to have more room for expression. They can use that to recreate the scene the way they remembered it, or to create something entirely new. When I get excited about an idea for a photo I'm not trying to document anything, I'm generally trying to create something. An image that communicates a feeling in way words can't, shares a unique perspective or evokes a specific emotion. Or I just think it'll look dope.

For me it’s about giving the image the feeling I want people to have when they see it. This especially important in street photography.

It's also because sometimes the camera captures more than it shows. Most mobile pictures look vastly low detailed, like when all of the sky looks erased away. But it's actually there in the picture, if you just increase details of picture in Snapseed for example
