Hi Wayne. What’s your advice on getting back out to wet a line after this rain and flooding has gone away in SE Qld? Does all the flooding and volume of water that’s come through disturb the fish in the estuaries and mean it’s best to stick to beaches for a while, or is it good to get back to estuary fishing as soon as the flooding has subsided and it’s safe to do so? Thanks, appreciate your advice as always.

Dad is putting his old alvey reels on a couple of my rods today as I have this nasty habit of letting the drag all the way out and forgetting when I cast and throwing the reel in the water haha. Managed to get the reels back, but lost the drag setting dial on 2 reels now. I haven't used and alvey in years. Today's the day :). Thank you for all these videos, so informative!

The Alvey seems to be dying out here in Southern NSW. I find fluorocarbon doesn't seem to work well and is hard on the finger or am just getting soft??

Great info Wayne. Been using Alvey reels for nearly 50 years, just indestructible.
Looking forward to Moreton Bay salting up again, and getting out to wet a line.

Good one mate I agree with that video just bought the Mrs a 9foot 4wrap rod and 5inch Alvey . How do they label rods now they seem to be not fiibreglass and not labeled as they were when I used to fish all the time

Alvey all the way. Easy to use and unbreakable. Fish with it then it can sit in a cupboard for years and will still be good to go. I'm still using my grandfathers and fathers real and I'm over 50.

My first reel was a Alvey
I’ve been using a daiwa carbon fibre rod with a butterworth reel for 30 years all types of fishing never let me down
The reel is just starting to get a bit worn out now

Thanks Wayne really enjoy your vids 👍 If possible would you be able to put together a vid on how you or who you get to do a full service on your more expensive reels👍
