Here's a little more context:

When airliners pressurize, the fuselage "breathes".
Over the course of an airplane's usable lifespan, the fuselage will do this hundreds, if not thousands of times. Because of this, the metal of the fuselage will be stressed. In order to prevent an explosive decompression, the aircraft windows must be rounded off or else it is possible for fatigue cracks to destroy the aircraft. This is why, on average, aircraft that do not pressurize, last longer, as the fuselage doesn't fatigue as much.
The 3D Animation of the aircraft exploding was of a DeHavilland Comet, which was the first Jet-Powered airliner to enter commercial service.
