edit: you all are insufferable, and no, he didn't explain that a plane window is composed of 3 panes, being the one in the middle the one with the hole, this is useful because this way the air inside the window acts as a soft pressure cushion, the plane is and always will be a closed system, there is no entrance nor exit of air from the plane to the outside, because at this altitude all the air would be sucked trough this holes suffocating everyone inside, dense, all of you smartasses

The bleed hole allows the cabin pressure to be held against the most sturdy outer pane without stressing the middle pane (with the hole in it). The middle pane should be able to hold if the outer window is broken however the cabin pressure may need to be lowered if any damage is apparent, the plane would also tend to descend to a safer altitude to further reduce the pressure differential (usually to 10, 000 feet).

The inner pane is mainly to keep passengers from damaging anything vital.

That said, it’s virtually impossible to crack a passenger window in flight unless something much worse is happening (like catastrophic engine failure with a containment breach). The cockpit widow is far more vulnerable (hail and bird-strike).
