WORSE POSSIBLE TIME FOR THIS TO HAPPEN ON A CRUISE.
Passengers onboard the NCL Jade were informed the ship was having engine issues and would not be returning to port until a full 24 hours late.
Having to rebook your flights when this happens is hard enough. However it wis even worse as a Tech error with the airline caused over 3000 flights to be cancelled. Now people are scambling to find a flight home some saying it could be 4 to 5 days later.

This is going to be a travel insurance nightmare. All those assumptions we make when taking out travel insurance are going to be put to the test! I hope folks share their experiences with us.

My boss was on the Jade and messaged me Friday that they had a steering issue and were delayed getting back to Canaveral for a day. He was glad he got an extra day on the ship

It sounds like NCL really stepped up and did right by there passengers. This is why we always always book our airfare with the cruise line and have travel insurance.

We were lucky, our airline was not affected and we booked to fly out the day before on the first flight of the day. Long lines at the airport but we got there early enough. I know there were others who were not so fortunate. We made it yesterday and board the ship today.

I think those folks are luckier to have an extra day on the ship rather than sleeping in the airport.

The World Wide Web was fine yesterday. Company computers running Microsoft Windows with CrowdStrike monitoring software were taken down by an ill-advised CrowdStrike Falcon update.

Wow, when it rains it pours. That's a double whamy. It's getting scary to travel.

I have to disagree, it's perfect timing! The odds are if they had arrived on time they still couldn't have flown out, so they got a extra free day on the ship. People going out on the next cruise, may not have made it in time, having the extra day, improves their chances.

Happened to us. We rented a car and drove 13 hours home. It’s wasn’t fun but better than sitting for 3 days. Thank goodness we were in USA.

We not only fly in at least a day before the cruise, we also schedule departure fights at least one day after disembarkation.

I’ve been notified that my cruise will start 2 days later than scheduled. For us it was easy. Others were offered flight change reimbursements. Some figured the costs weren’t worth it.

True. I have a family of 7 that is scheduled to board today but instead it’s tomorrow. They have insurance, I hope their extra night in hotel and food is covered ☺️
