Imagine being a descendant of a legendary Japanese family, and conquering Japan in Shogun II with your own clan.

my grandma told me before her death 2 years ago that we have a japanese blood and our family name was the Sanada. our family migrated from japan to korea back in late 1800s and on 1900s we migrated to australia and stayed here ever since. She talked about that the clan we used to serve used to like horses a lot, and we took care and used it far more better than any clan did back on the sengoku-jidai. back on grandma's house, she still has a rokumonsen of the sanada hanged in the living room, but told me the sanada family is dead and scattered and this banner was passed on to generations after generations to honor our ancestors atleast by remembering them that they existed.

rest in peace granny, i love you.

Japan is a very lucky country, they never got invaded from foreign countries, Mongols failed to invade and that played a big role. This is why you see people today that are descendents of famous historical leaders. You hear names that are 1000 years old and most of their buildings and artifacts are intact.

*Oda Nobunaga is brought back from the dead*
ON: "Did the Oda clan win? Did we unite Japan?"
Me: "Japan was united, but not by the Oda. Japan was united by your friend and ally, Tokugawa"
ON: "IMPOSSIBLE! Where are my descendants? Surely they are waging war against the Tokugawa clan right now?"
Me: "Um, no. Your grandson is a figure-skater, not a fighter"
ON: "SHAMEFUL DISPLAY!!!" *commits Sepukku and dies again*

2:52 wow, it's weird to think one of Japan's most powerful and vengeful warlords, would have a renowned figure skater as a descendant. Life sure is strange.

I have met the current clan leader of the Date Clan. Actually, I believe he lives in Tokyo, but does come to visit for festivals and events--such as cleaning the family graveyard. That is where I met him, it was a community event. He keeps a low profile. Very kind, polite, and has some energy around him.

I volunteered at the Sendai City Museum for a year and a half. There and the Date Museum in Matsushima will tell you everything you need to know. Or ask me^^

Hey Photon, Really cool video,
One recommendation would be to keep the music down a little because it's hard to hear you,
But other than that, Good work !

It didn't always go from father to son. Often times nephews, cousins, and brothers would inherit the throne.

Tokugawa actually played a surprisingly large role in the final moments of the Second World War. The extended family of the Tokugawa included Yoshihiro Tokugawa who was tasked with hiding the emperor's surrender recordings during a coup attempt by the army to destroy it and prevent its broadcast.
