Children need human interaction. We are social creatures. Yes an AI can teach you math, English, history, and science. However there is a need to have a teacher there to help a child.
Look we need free college, better public schools etc. We need to get rid of private and charter schools. Finland has t he best countries in the world. We need to adopt their system. Education is not a business. It is an investment that helps you get what you need to make your life better. We as a nation are investing in our younger generation so they can pay for our social security when I get older, have jobs, be able to read, write, etc.

I’m a teacher(not in America) and AI is going to transform education but this is INSANE! Elementary school kids especially need a teacher and interaction with peers. This will be a disaster for the kids no matter what the company spins out to us later.

I remember arguing with someone online. I was saying that all honest work should be respected and that some ppl only have the mental capacity to do certain jobs and those jobs shouldnt be taken away. They were for AI taking all the "mediocre" jobs like "flipping burgers". Now im wondering what their profession was and have they gotten laid off yet from their "must have bachelor's degree ssa job"😂

FYI: Alpha School is an amazing school. It has had the two hours a day of school for years. The rest of the time students do their own projects.

A perfect example that change for change's sake is not always good and in many cases can actually be harmful. Just like those self-check out machines at supermarkets and forcing people into electric cars when there's no grid established.

This will ultimately be solution whether people like it or not. Once AI is consistent enough to handle elementary to middle school topics each kid will essentially have their own teacher/tutor suited to their own needs. This can ultimately allow us to remove the grade system and just focus on competencies because kids will get to learn at their own pace.

High school teachers and college professors will be next but it will take longer for the LLM to accurately handle the necessary prompts. Expect that to come a few years later.
