To everyone saying New Orleans is not a Forgotten Place, that is the name of my channel which has evolved over time, it is not meant to be taken literally with every video. Though the city in itself is not forgotten, there are still details and elements in any given place and its history that are or may be forgotten…

Just had the honor of being in New Orleans for a week and I will be first to say everyone there is extremely kind and is appreciative of having a conversation. My taste buds haven’t recovered since returning back to the boring Midwest after eating their cuisine. Absolute most culture of any city I’ve been to in the United States.

New Orleans/SE Louisiana just dealt with a hurricane (Ida) this past August that was much larger & stronger than Katrina, and N.O. walked away with little to no damage. Keep in mind, Ida's eye passed thru at the same distance from downtown as Katrina, but the city was on the "wrong" (most damaging) side of the storm. New York & New Jersey lost people to that storm than Louisiana. Being that the new hurricane protection system help NO get thru a powerful hurricane unscathed only encourages more people to move back. A lot of western & northern transplants are moving there in large numbers as I speak.

New Orleans went from a hurricane which flooded 80% of the city to winning the Super Bowl in nearly 5 years

Born and raised here. After Katrina I went to Houston and joined the military. I haven't moved back since and not planning to

As a resident of the metro area, we all know what happened to New Orleans over the years, why it is in the shape it is in now, and why it will remain in the shspe it is in for a long time to come.

I love New Orleans. The most unique city in America with architecture not seen anywhere in the country. Same goes for culture and music and of course the cuisine/food is unlike any in American. New Orleans will forever be in my heart!

I am from New Orleans and trust me its not a great place. I definitely wouldn't advise anyone to live there. Just for a New Orleanian to make a decent living even with an education, you have to leave the state because in order to get a decent job its all about who you know and whether they like you are not. Taxes are extremely high, there are potholes the size of mini lakes in the streets that never are fixed, nothing productive for youth to do but they ensure to build plenty of prisons and educational system is horrific. Also lets not talk about the crime, which is a hole other story but its due to lack of good paying jobs. There's a laundry list of other issues but it would be too much to type in this comment section. Oh and may I add, it got even worst after Katrina, which they allow pretty much anybody to come in and revamp, making horrible decisions for the city which further elongated the city's plight.

I love how much you showcase the history of the city and juxtapose it with its modern place in American society. It’s very clear that this channel is growing and you’re devoting more effort with each video that gets uploaded. Keep up the great work my guy 👍🏼

I would hardly qualify one of the best cities in the USA as a "forgotten place". People are moving here in droves, driving up housing costs and displacing residents. If anything, that's been the real problem with New Orleans post-Katrina.

New Orleans made huge recovery after Katrina. Film industry has filmed a lot movies there has use six flags to film movies. Hosting SBs National title games CFB playoffs and BCS games.

*I know you talk about "forgotten", New Orleans east is LONGGG forgotten! They still have places around there that look like Katrina happened YESTERDAY!! & Recently, it has become a dumping ground for trash & garbage. They JUST found a development for Jazzland after 17 years!!! (I'm not calling it Six Flags because I went there when it was called Jazzland)*

I moved to New Orleans six years ago. I live in the French Quarter and have been through a couple hurricanes since I've been here. Hurricane Ida course was pretty brutal as it lasted like 6 hours. right now the biggest issue with New Orleans is that a mayor, half the businesses are still closed in French Quarter because of her vaccine mandates. I walk by empty buildings every single day, it's really sad what she has done to this city. murder has doubled since last year and so has all crime carjackings at all-time high. it's very difficult to live here right now.

Thank you for highlighting our great city. One error. You say our population continues to grow, but actually we peaked two years ago and the population is now, once again on the decline.

No city on earth has as much culture musically as New Orleans .But it is also a city of broken dreams. Many musicians go there and end up dead by not being StreetWise. because you have to realize that New Orleans used to be the murder capital of the United States . I lived in New Orleans and as a trumpet player you're the king of the universe when you live in New Orleans. It is also very expensive to live in French quarter and if your musician that's where you want to be so basically it's a love hate relationship. But I actually lived in a place which was identical to the House of the rising Sun. It's been the ruin of many a poor boy and man I know I'm one.
