As an army vet! If any other veteran in any branch, lets a terrorist group radicalize, you to harm the same ppl you swore to defend, is a disgrace! I don’t like all things that take place in our country, but still wouldn’t turn my back on it!

to the police chief- if someone can get around barriers they aren't barriers! You were not prepared!

I was in New Orleans a week ago and on my mom’s birthday. We passed that place and there was a huge crowd of people there. Seeing this was horrifying since my aunt was supposed to be there on new year’s. Im so glad she didn’t and so sorry for the people who went through this pain.
(Quick edit): THERE WAS NEVER BARRIERS!!

I'm afraid New Orleans is gonna have a hefty lawsuit on it's hands once the shock, grief, and funerals are tended to.
Who decides to fix barriers in the midst of New Years Eve in a very busy city?

There should been no way that someone could even get a vehicle on bourbon during new years. Since when did they start letting people drive through there? Shouldnt have even been possible

The New Orleans Police Chief was let go from the Oakland Ca Police Department for poor performance.
Now in New Orleans, failing again.

Why place barricades if there are gaps. That's like having a fence with a big empty gap to walk through

It's really easy to install big concrete barriers they put on all freeways. Complete incompetence.

Kudos to the people paying attention and acting quickly to get themselves and others to safety.

So they removed the old bollards before the new ones were ready to install. That's dumb. Or complicit? EDIT: Ok. So, if you were scheduling this for a place that needed it (otherwise they wouldn't have been there) would you have left days between remove and install? Maybe remove and install same day....or maybe concrete Jersey barriers immediately?
